Dilemma, 2018
Kunstverein Buchholz Nordheide
Signifikante Kulturkirche St. Johannis

In his “Dilemma” project, Roland Stratmann addresses the topic of “crisis and design”. The Berlin artist will combine the exhibition of his works in the Kunstverein and in St. Johannis with a festive procession.

In his participatory art, Stratmann involves visitors and recipients in different ways. He addresses political, ideological and social conflicts and with his projects enables individual diversity and creates space for the unpredictable.

He is supported by students from the Am Kattenberge secondary school, who are developing sculptures as part of a project week and will perform the world premiere of a "crisis cacophony" with the artist in a joint performance.

The project started back in May with a postcard campaign in which more than 350 people from Buchholz have now taken part. Roland Stratmann responded to these submissions and created a work of art from them. Together with other works from his studio, it will be presented for the first time during the opening event on October 28, 2018 in the Kunstverein and in the Kulturkirche St. Johannis. On November 9th, 2018, an artist talk will take place in the Am Kattenberge secondary school, at which the results of the school project week will also be shown.

A film documentation by Justus Riechers and Alex Stoldt provides insights into the creative collaboration of all those involved and can be seen during opening hours in the art association, in St. Johannis and in the secondary school.
