Glasgestaltung Schloßplatz Karlsruhe 2010
Gestaltung der Brüstung und Fahrstuhleinhausung mit keramischen Schmelzfarben auf teilverspiegelten Gläsern.
The design of the glass elevator and the balustrade of the staircase draw attention to the possibility of parking in the underground car park and create a recognizable accent on the castle square. The partially mirrored glasses combine harmoniously with the surroundings and reflect the baroque surroundings of the palace and park. Depending on the incidence of light and the viewing angle, there are always new reflections, color nuances and facets. The natural daylight and the lighting, which is switched on at dusk, change the optical appearance of the treated glass surfaces and create a varied interaction between the mirrored typeface and the environment.
The barrier-free access to the underground car park at Schlossplatz in Karlsruhe by Gassmann Architekten - in collaboration with the artist Roland Stratmann and Luna Lichtarchitektur - was considered a nomination for the "Dr. Ursula Broermann Prize for exemplary barrier-free construction" in 2012.
